Fn 9mm carbine side charging upper9/27/2023 ![]() I personally won't go shorter, but if shooting with the can on #2 is as much fun as I think it will be, might be replacing the 7" barrel on #1 so I can get it out from under the rail & put a tri-lug adapter on it. Have seen a few different things lately, including 1 from Classic Firearms, where 7" seems to be a real sweet-spot for 9mm. 7" gives a little more room for accessories as well. His wife has since claimed that gun as "hers".Īlso, not sure if you're thinking 5" or 7"? I'm sure the 5" is fun, but I just want a little more distance between my front hand on the handguard & the business end. She looked at him, pointed at the side-charging handle, & said "That one." Although he knew that the decision had already been made he tried it out too. She picked up, charged, & fired #1, the side-charger. He & his wife held, charged, & shot my AR-15. I boogered up a barrel nut building #2 & they sent one immediately, at no charge.ġ of the guys that I mentioned that bought 1 immediately after our range session went out with a leaning toward the rear-charge ("AR-15 commonality"). I've kept up a steady flow of emails with them from day 1 & they answer almost instantly. AR-9 Rifles AR-9 Pistols AR-9 Complete Uppers AR-9 Lowers. The non-treated barrel chews up 124gr hollow points with no issue.įoxtrot Mike's Customer Service is the best I've seen. This Bear Creek Arsenal 7.5' 5.56 NATO Side Charging Upper comes with the new handguard, a BCG and side charging handle. I did have the Guaranteed to Feed feed cone treatment on #2's barrel because I want ultimate reliability shooting heavy (subsonic) rounds with the suppressor. Through all of it the guns have been super reliable. Much easier to buy the completed lower (or stripped lower) & then pick the upper you want. If you haven't already seen it you're going to have a hard time finding a complete gun, like my #1 was. Another friend shot them a week or so ago & is now in the process of gathering parts for 2. I've had 4 friends shoot these & shortly thereafter order their own, with 1 of them having 2 like me (2 went home from the range & ordered it immediately). #2 has the Radian Raptor LT ambi charging handle on it (both guns have the Radian Talon ambi safety selector) I can't say I like the rear-charge any less than the side, but part of that is I pieced together #2 & it has other features that make it my favorite (my gun, wife claimed #1). In the meantime, & for unsuppressed shooting, I have an Angstadt Arms Blastwave tri-lug linear comp on it (easy swap with the can). Rugged Obsidian 9 is on day 260 of incarceration. #2 FM-9 is 7" rear-charge with the integral tri-lug adapter, for a suppressor. Either handle (stock or paratrooper) can easily be switched to the other side (ambi). I did switch to the FMP folding paratrooper handle. I have the Magpul MBUS Gen 2 front sight on it, it just took a tiny bit of shaving on the charging handle side to make it work. For me the flow of the side-charger is more natural, with being able to maintain the strong hand grip & not fumbling around at the end of the gun close in to me.
